What did you do this past week?

This past week in OOP my partner and I finished up the unit and acceptance tests for the voting project. My research group and I also got the code for our experiment mostly running so that was exciting.

What’s in your way?

For my IOS project, we only have three weeks until the first release. We’ve started early, but our project idea is also pretty ambitious so I’m worried about finishing in time.

What will you do next week?

Next week I’m guessing we will be starting our next project, so I’ll be starting on that. I’ll also be working quite a bit on IOS and my research so I can enjoy my spring break.

If you read it, what did you think of the Open-Closed Principle?

The Open-Closed Principle seems to be an important part of scaling up a project in object-oriented design.

What was your experience of arrays, iterators, and algorithms? (this question will vary, week to week)

I think I need to actually use arrays and their iterators in my code to really understand all the details of how they work.

What made you happy this week?

I drove up to a Korean bakery 85degrees to get bread, it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend their mango-cream-filled bread. I’m also excited about spring break. I’m planning to drive to visit my sister in Houston; she’s a med student so she’s been vaccinated and I can finally visit her!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is my planner. I would probably never get anything done if it weren’t for all of the checklists I make in it. I find that it helps me plan my time and break up large projects rather than try to get them done in 2-day hackathons. It also helps me not miss deadlines. I’ve tried using google calendar or other online planners, but I find paper planners are most effective at keeping me organized.
