What did you do this past week?

This past week my partner and I got started on the allocator project. We started before he had explained all of it, so we got slightly confused about how the iterator was supposed to work at first and had to rewrite the methods. For IOS, I’ve figured out how to create our database using Firebase and created the User Profile/editable settings for our app.

What’s in your way?

I’m torn between wanting to just take a break from work and wanting to be productive so that I’m not super stressed after spring break. Perhaps I’ll try to strike a happy medium and pick a couple of days to take completely off but try to be productive for at least a little bit the rest.

What will you do next week?

Next week I will keep working on the Allocator project and my IOS app. I’m also going to try to do some reviewing for my Japanese class since I’ve already forgotten some of what we learned at the beginning of the semester.

If you read it, what did you think of the Liskov Substitution Principle?

It seems like an important principle for OOD.

What was your experience of heap arrays, allocators, and digits iterator? (this question will vary, week to week)

Stack vs heap arrays is useful to understand for developing in C++. I’m not a huge fan of writing code for objects when someone else has already done a better job than I can and created an official library for it. But I do see the utility because I have a better grasp of iterators and allocators in C++ now.

What made you happy this week?

This weekend I drove to visit my sister in Houston. We’ve had a good time hanging out and this evening we will be celebrating my 21st birthday a couple of days early. I’m also happy that it’s spring break and I can spend a day or doing absolutely nothing productive.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is the following banana bread recipe: https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/banana_bread/

It’s a great way to use up bananas if they’ve gotten too brown to eat. I like using three bananas and adding chocolate chips or a bit of cinnamon/cloves/cardamom.
