Why did you come to UT?

I decided to come to UT because of the excellent computer science program as well as the in-state tuition.

Why are you majoring in CS?

I chose CS because I enjoyed the computer science courses I took in high school. I also felt like it was a major that would be useful even if I changed career paths.

What are your expectations of this class?

I expect to be frustrated at times by the self-taught aspect of this course, but in the end to learn a great deal.

How much Javascript/Python/Web programming do you already know?

I know almost no Javascript/Web programming, the extent of my knowledge is acode academy course on building a website I took several years ago. I’m relatively comfortable with Python since I’ve used it in research projects.

How did you like the two lectures?

Thus far, I’ve enjoyed the lectures, the material is presented in an engaging format.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

Part of the engagement I’ve felt in the lectures stems from the cold calling, it definitely forces me to pay attention. I was very apprehensive about being put on the spot, since I don’t articulate myself very well under pressure. However, I’m thankful that I got the first time over with in the second lecture, since it wasn’t as awful as I was dreading.

What made you happy this week?

One thing that made me happy this week was baking; I made cream puffs last weekend and brownies just yesterday.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip for group projects would be to use the VS Code sharing feature, this allows all the group members to type/develop code simultaneously.
