What did you do this past week?

This past week I finished up a project for IOS (a whole week early!) and got started on the Collatz assignment for this class.

What’s in your way?

In order to work on assignments for my IOS class, I have to travel to the GDC to have access to a mac computer. On the bright side, it prevents me from procrastinating on projects for that class.

What will you do next week?

Next week I will finish up the Collatz project for this class. I also have my first Japanese quiz.

If you read it, what did you think of the makefile?

It was helpful to take a deeper look at what is going on in the makefile because I think it will help me use it.

What was your experience of Docker? (this question will vary, week to week)

I used Docker last semester in Professor Downing’s software engineering class because it was necessary for creating our website. I’m not a huge fan of it, but it’s also super useful as a development tool. I’ve decided to just ssh into the lab machines for this class and develop in VS code.

What was your experience of assertions? (this question will vary, week to week)

I learned about assertions last semester for SWE and they are useful tools to know in C++ as well.

What was your experience of unit tests? (this question will vary, week to week)

Unit tests are important to make sure that corner cases are caught.

What made you happy this week?

I did a lot of my work on Saturday, so I got to relax for most of today. I also found an adorable mug for $1 at a thrift store.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is that HEB sells spices in the bulk section which are way cheaper than buying them in jars, and that way if you only need a little bit for a recipe, you can just buy a little bit, or you can always stock up.
